The absolute pinnacle of BJJ is the red belt
Most people can agree on the significance of the black belt. In fact, most people believe that a black belt in any martial art is the highest rank one can achieve, and while it's an achievement that few people can claim, there are actually even higher ranks that can be achieved in BJJ. The absolute pinnacle of BJJ is the red belt—an honor reserved for those who have dedicated their lives to practicing and spreading this highly effective martial art.
The red belt, technically a ninth-degree black belt, is the highest possible rank that a living practitioner of BJJ may attain. Those who achieve the red belt not only have a deep understanding of the art, but they live and breathe it. To give you an idea of how difficult the red belt is to obtain, the earliest that a 19-year-old black belt (an achievement in its own right) could expect to earn his or her red belt would be at the age of 67 years old.
Those who earn BJJ red belts are often addressed as “grandmaster.” And while no living BJJ practitioner can progress any further than the ninth degree, the 10th degree does, in fact, exist. However, it is reserved solely for the pioneers of BJJ—Carlos, Oswaldo, George, Gaston, and Helio Gracie.

Sometimes we get so focused on our future calling that we miss out on our present purpose
Living with purpose is not a question of finding one particular meaning, one overarching truth that defines existence for every living person. It is personal. It is working hard to provide for your loved ones, or pursuing a personal goal that matters. Purpose in life is variable, but can be found by every person, in every circumstance.
“It’s not about finding the right balance between the meaningful and the meaningless. It’s about perspective. It’s about recognizing that all work is meaningful.”Sometimes it’s as simple as remembering why you do the things you do. Every morning, the sound of an alarm clock and the taste of a bitter cup of coffee may seem mundane and empty.
But there is something profound in the realization that your actions serve a greater purpose: the passion for the work you do, or the love for the family that is fed and clothed by the money made. Living with purpose is the acknowledgment of meaning in the seemingly mundane. It is seeing that each of us has a unique purpose and a place in the lives we live.
Like all complex questions, the question of living with purpose has a complex answer. It is not a simple solution, but reduced to its simplest form, it implies a life of intentionality: a life of recognition of our power to choose, to define the meaning in our lives each and every day. We do not live our lives by happenstance, and we are far more than victims of circumstance.
“Finish each day and be done with it. You have done what you could. Some blunders and absurdities no doubt crept in; forget them as soon as you can. Tomorrow is a new day. You shall begin it serenely and with too high a spirit to be encumbered with your old nonsense.”-- Ralph Waldo EmersonEven the most oppressive circumstances leave us free to choose our way, the freedom to find meaning in any of the limitless places it can be found. Perhaps the beauty of the question is that there isn’t any one answer, only the freedom to choose our answers for ourselves.

The things you own should be beautiful, useful or well loved
When I ask clients what they long for, the most common responses are “peace,” “space” and “freedom.” Clutter keeps us from achieving these goals, and we spend hundreds of thousands of dollars buying larger homes. Empty space is more valuable—psychologically and physically—than almost any object.
With this in mind, walk into any room of your home and focus on 10 random objects. As you consider each, ask yourself (1) Do I truly need it?; (2) Do I truly adore it?; and, (3) Would I trade inner peace for this? The answers can help curb your pack-rat impulses, allowing you to clear out and move on.

Elderberries are tiny and blue-black, wonderful for baking and also for making into wine
Elderberries are tiny and blue-black, wonderful for baking and also for making into wine. The history of elderberry wine in England and in Central and Eastern Europe goes back hundreds of years—it was particularly popular in 17th century England as a purported cure for the flu and the common cold.
The unripe berries and other parts of the plant have very mild toxic properties, which are neutralized when they are cooked or fermented. Even ripe berries can sometimes contain the alkaloids which will make you sick; it's best to be on the safe side and always cook or ferment them.
Elderberry Muffins
2 cups flour
3 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
1/3 cup sugar
1 egg
1 cup milk
¼ cup applesauce
1 cup fresh or frozen elderberries
Stir together dry ingredients. Beat egg, applesauce and berries together. Stir berry mix into dry mix until well moistened. Bake in greased (or lined) muffin tins at 425º for 15-20 minutes. Makes 12-14 muffins
Elderflowers come from the same plant as elderberries, and have a heady fragrance and floral flavor, perfect for infusing into syrups, sodas, or cordials. (You've probably tried St. Germain before, but the homemade stuff is worth the effort.)

Steve Jobs's Philosophy
92. "We did iTunes because we all love music. We made what we thought was the best jukebox in iTunes. Then we all wanted to carry our whole music libraries around with us. The team worked really hard. And the reason that they worked so hard is because we all wanted one. You know? I mean, the first few hundred customers were us."
72. "Good PR educates people; that's all it is. You can't con people in this business. The products speak for themselves."
50. "There's an old Wayne Gretzky quote that I love. 'I skate to where the puck is going to be, not where it has been.' And we've always tried to do that at Apple. Since the very very beginning. And we always will."
47. "You've got to start with the customer experience and work back toward the technology - not the other way around."
42. "I am saddened, not by Microsoft's success - I have no problem with their success. They've earned their success, for the most part. I have a problem with the fact that they just make really third-rate products."
35. That's been one of my mantras -- focus and simplicity. Simple can be harder than complex: You have to work hard to get your thinking clean to make it simple. But it's worth it in the end, because once you get there, you can move mountains.
38. "Getting fired from Apple was the best thing that could have ever happened to me. The heaviness of being successful was replaced by the lightness of being a beginner again, less sure about everything. It freed me to enter one of the most creative periods of my life."
12. You can't just ask customers what they want and then try to give that to them. By the time you get it built, they'll want something new.
A perfectionist's task is never complete after discovering the initial solution. The quality Jobs' sought in his products were a direct result of painstaking attention to detail at every level. His dedication to providing quality products to consumers fueled his search for the best solution, not merely a solution.

Aloe is a smart choice for a sunny kitchen window
Aloe Vera helps to keep the household free from benzene which is commonly found in paint and certain chemical cleaners.
The Peace Lily is a beautiful plant and one that can improve indoor air quality by as much as 60 percent. It helps to reduce the levels of mold spores that grow in the home by absorbing those spores through its leaves and them circulating them to the plant’s roots where they are used as food. In bathrooms, the Peace Lily can help to keep shower tiles and curtains free from mildew and the plant can absorb harmful vapors from alcohol and acetone.
The spider plant can remove up to 90 percent of the toxins in indoor air. The leaves grow quickly and help to absorb harmful substances like mold and other allergens so it is the perfect plant for those who have common dust allergies.

Rare Photo of the Real Hachi
When the family of Isamu Yamamoto, a banker who passed away in 1947, began cleaning his old house, they made an extraordinary discovery. It seems Yamamoto loved taking pictures, and in one of his albums they found a photo of Hachiko, the loyal dog whose life inspired one of the most beloved movies aired on INSP, a true fan favorite, “Hachi: a Dog’s Tale” is based. What makes this photo so rare is that Hachi is clearly seen in front of the train station where he spent his life waiting patiently for the return of his master. It’s believed Yamamoto snapped the pic sometime in 1934. Hachiko was born November 10, 1923 and died March 8, 1935.
Hachi-Kou was an Akita dog that belonged to Professor Eizaburo Ueno, who commuted by train to his job at Tokyo Imperial University -- where he unexpectedly died. For the next ten years, Hachi returned to the same spot in front of the train station, faithfully waiting for Ueno every day, until his own death in 1935.

Passion is your compelling emotions behind your dreams
- You enjoy
- Comes naturally to you
- Energizes and lights you up
- Puts you in flow and makes time seem to fly by when you engage in it
It can also be akin to an obsession—something that you can’t get enough of. It’s where you go in daydreams or what sometimes keeps you awake and excited at night.

Gratitude is a selfless act that is done unconditionally to show to people that they are appreciated
It's easy to become accustomed to daily services people provide for us, like price-scanning our groceries or delivering our mail. But it's important to acknowledge another's effort in making your life easier.
This applies to service providers, as well as coworkers, friends and family who look out for our needs on a regular basis. Once you start recognizing these gestures, you can begin to show your appreciation. And studies show that the benefits of thankfulness extend to both the giver and receiver.
Gratitude doesn’t have to be saved for the “big” things in life. The habit of being grateful starts with appreciating every good thing in life and recognizing that there is nothing too small for you to be thankful for.
The individual impact of any one piece of gratitude is small, but the cumulative effect is huge. The power of this habit comes from a multiplier effect that takes hold after practicing it for a month or two. You begin to realize that nearly everyday is a good day (at least in a small way).
The greatest benefit of gratitude is happiness — which of course is the one goal that we’re all seeking to achieve. Following the Law of Attraction, more happiness will gravitate toward those individuals who are already happy. Happiness isn’t found in things. It is gratitude for what we have that creates happiness.

When you fully embody your message and service to the world, you become your sales page
A couple of new coaches have asked me recently how I grew my business without Facebook ads, massive marketing funnels, a 5-figure website, fancy photoshoots, copy writers, etc.
When I told them I’ve organically reached over 1.2 million views on my YouTube channel (and still get 10-20k views a month even though I’m not making videos at all these days), their jaw literally dropped.
My biz strategy has always been simply this: Serve Life Powerfully
Add value without expectation
Actually CARE about people without expectation
Expectation = the antithesis of true connection
When you hone your craft so deeply that you BECOME your offer, you can essentially do away with all the sales scripts and cookie-cutter marketing techniques

Every time you express a preference for something, you are expressing an intention
We are all born with a deep and meaningful purpose that we have to discover. Your purpose is not something you need to make up; it’s already there. You have to uncover it in order to create the life you want. You may ask yourself, “What is my purpose in life?” You can begin to discover your passion or your purpose by exploring two things:
What do you love to do?
What comes easily to you?
Of course, it takes work to develop your talents- even the most gifted musician still has to practice-but it should feel natural, like rowing downstream rather than upstream.
As soon as you commit to a big dream and really go after it, your subconscious creative mind will come up with big ideas to make it happen. You’ll start attracting the people, resources, and opportunities you need into your life to make your dream come true.
