Michael Venom Page vs David Rickels Bellator 200

I don't know how to feel about this.

After the Schevchenko vs Cachoeira and Nunes vs Pennington fights, I felt like the "just bleed" mentality of demanding that fighters go out on their shields was bad for the sport. And like Luke Thomas argued, you don’t have to take a certain amount of damage for it to be ok to quit. If you’re a pro fighter and you feel you have no chance of winning and it’s time to quit, that’s alright.

But this… it does kind of challenge my position. The guy got cut, decided to quit before the inevitable KO and then made an "inspirational" Instagram video about how he made a lot of money and has no regrets. Which is cool. I get it. Winning the match with a lucky punch seemed far less likely than MVP literally crushing his skull, so he quit. It does feel a bit weird when he’s just celebrating his ‘easy’ paycheck afterwards (probably in defiance of the internet haters), but it’s fine, I guess.

My only real complaint is that he decided to quit while wearing a pimped out, Super-Saiyan version of Manhoef’s awesome gladiator fight shorts. That’s just wrong.
