When the Star appears in a Tarot reading, be open to new ideas and growth

The Star Tarot card brings renewed hope and faith and a sense that you are truly blessed by the Universe at this time.

Courage, fulfilment, and inspiration are in your life.

You are entering a loving phase in your life, filled with calm energy, mental stability and deeper understanding of both yourself and others around you.

This card is saying to you that, over the long-term, you should have faith and trust in the Universe.

A better future is waiting for you but in order to reach it you must trust that it is indeed possible.

How To Program Your Crystal

As it follows the Tower, the meaning of the Star Tarot card suggests that you have endured life’s challenges and have been through a difficult time but you are now open to healing and transformation.

Your ability to let go of damaging memories has been strengthened by contact with your true self through these difficult times.

Hatred, envy, bitterness, and revenge have burned themselves out and no longer shadow your life or get in the way of your potential for future happiness.

You are now also able to forgive and forget so that you can embrace new opportunities.

The Star card is therefore an important card for personal transformation.

When the Star appears in a Tarot reading, be open to new ideas and growth.

Listen to the still small voice within.

You have a strong desire now to find or rediscover a sense of meaning, inspiration, or purpose in your life.

You are making some significant changes in your life, transforming yourself from the old you to the new you, and in doing this you are bringing about a fresh perspective on life.

You may also be feeling that you are finally honouring the person who you truly are or want to be, rather than simply following a routine that has little meaning to you.

There is a deeper spiritual journey that you are going through which is all about bringing greater meaning and purpose into your life and renewing your inner energy.

You hope your future will be better than your past. This card is the call of destiny that motivates you or compels you to go on.

Your desire is not in vain as you will ultimately find what you are yearning for.

In a Tarot reading, the Star brings renewed self-esteem and increased trust in yourself. You will become aware of how successful and respected you are.

You may attain a goal that brings lasting happiness and your reputation may be enhanced.

The Star Tarot card is particularly encouraging when you have come through a period of opposition, negative feedback or setbacks that have previously damaged your self-esteem.

The Star encourages you to have faith in yourself and to believe in yourself.

The Star Tarot card also indicates a generous spirit. You want to give or share your wealth with others to help transform their own lives.

You have an open heart and you now want to give back the blessings you have already received so that others may benefit.

The next video should be 10 things why Lisa is a better fish keeper that John ๐Ÿค”
1
The photos of Betta mid way through are stunning! I’m not a Betta keeper but enjoyed the video ๐Ÿ˜€

Barb Kelly 2 days ago
Excellent video, although I HATE all those dinky "aquariums" the stores surround betta fish with. I wouldn't go with anything smaller than 5.5g. My betta is in a 10g (black water) and is very happy. It's a fish, put it in a real tank like any other fish and do away with the tiny "tank" marketing crap. I had a guy at LFS criticize me for wanting to put a betta in a 10g. He said "you're gonna get a 10g tank for ONE fish?" He then proceeded to show me all those dinky so-called aquariums and told me that's all I need. This, in my opinion, is a big part of the problem.
14
Agree 100%. I can't stand those little plastic boxes that they call betta habitats or any desktop betta kit (under a gallon is the worst). It's really no different then the cups they are sold in.
2
Bettas can be incredibly active (especially shorter finned plakats and females) I cant imagine mine being confined to a small tank or bowl

I house my guy in a 5 gallon planted, heated, and filtered tank. I wouldnt dare use anything less than a 5 gallon for a betta tank.
2
I've had several of the all in one nano tanks and they aren't worth the money.  The lights are sad and the filters are even worse.  Save your money and get either a 5.5 or a 10 gallon on a $1 per gallon sale.  Your betta will thank you!

true. i bought a fi e gallon kit and had to re do it myself. no more kits for me.

unless its a fluval spec

Another great video! Way to go guys

Great video John and Lisa!

Great video. Congrats again on. 80K

No hate mail for Lisa - she just deserves flowers. Hint-Hint JOHN

Yes lol thank you Mark!
5
Just put John in a tank next to hers for a few days and when John has a nice bubble nest there put Lisa in with him.
1
I just love her passion.

One of the most misunderstood fish in my opinion.
7
Also Betta fish prefer black water, less intense lighting and an acidic environment and/or botanicals (but these are not necessary, just makes them happier).

I've read and heard that black water is mainly important for wild bettas.  Most spendens have been raised in regular tank water.
1
I agree with Madsen, bettas at your typical run of the mill pet store are raised in the local tap water. It’s better since most betta buyers are inexperienced and hardly know how to mess with their pH. But the beautiful thing about bettas is how well they adapt to any water so well. Black water is very lovely tho, I too have a black water tank with a betta. Sand, driftwood, and almond leaves compliment bettas very well!

10 things to know about substate
9
That was very well put I just hope the people who need to see this actually do see it.
4
Bettas are very abused in the hobby. I normally keep mine in a 10 g, but my latest Betta lives in a 20 long with caves and plants and a lot of hiding places. He's extremely happy !! Great video !

THANK YOU FOR MAKING THIS VIDEO, VERY INFORMATIVE. AND I AGREE WITH YOU 100% ON EVERYTHING
7
Totally agree that Bettas are often mistreated.

Betta and Goldfish are terribly mistreated
3
Bettas are abused.

Excellent video

Great vid. I have 2 bettas now. My male is in his own 5g and I have a female in a 40g with other fish. Love them both so much :D

Thanks for the video. I'm setting up a 5 gal for a betta. Just planted it and will now wait til his home is cycled and lush with plant growth. I might have to reduce the filter flow and tint the water a bit, but this will be worked out before I get the fish.

This was great! I'm glad you put it all out there! Well, You know what I mean. I threated to call fish protection services on my grandson & his girlfriend because they thought it would be cute to buy 2 Bettas a small bowl for each one & would leave them in dirty water, forget to feed and the worst!! NO HEATER!! We are in Indiana how they made it through the 1st winter I'll never know. Long story short. I took custody bought them each a 1.5 cube with orbi silk plants. Not good enough for my Boyz'! I'm a beginner just bought a 10gal and will be dividing it. Researched beginner plants, substrate, water conditioning & so on. Red & Blue are in for a big surprise! Thanks keep it up :) Viv G-ma in Indiana

5 mistreated tropical fishes that i know: 1. molly's 2. bettas 3. plecos 4. sword tails 5. gold fish

Great video. Other mistreated fish that not many people talk about are schooling/shoaling fish. More than once I was at a petstore and someone takes "one of each" and the person selling it just gets them "one of each" without even mentioning that they need at least 5+ of each for them to survive.

๐Ÿ˜‚๐ŸคฃRum bottle where have we heard that before?
5
Great video on Fighter fish, I own a couple have nice planted tanks for each of them!

I personally wouldn't keep a betta in anything less than 5g. Those tiny little aquariums are ridiculous. Our oldest betta lived for 3.5 yrs in our care.
2
I agreed with p much everything in this video. When it comes to tank mates and even tank sizes for betta fish everyone has VERY different beliefs. I personally feel the minimum size tank for a betta is 2.5 gallons, while I have a close friend who wouldn’t dare put a betta in less than 5 gallons of water, and in fact another friend who will preach a minimum 10 gallons for a betta. The aquarium hobby is based on your OWN individual experiences and that’s why we all have different standards. I kept a veiltail in a 2.5 gallon who lived for 12 years with weekly water changes, and another female veil tail in a 3.5 gallon who only lived for 3 years with the same weekly water changes. I’ve had many experiences. If you are a beginner don’t even bother with tank mates. Think of yourself as your betta’s mate, or get them a marimo moss ball as a mate. And to be honest, if you have the space, the bigger the tank the better! Because your tank needs to stay heated at 78-80°F the water will evaporate much faster in a smaller tank. If you are not gonna stay on top of that smaller tank on the daily, go for a bigger tank you can maintenance weekly, or a giant tank you can maintenance monthly. That’s why I say 2.5 gallons minimum WITH A LID is MY standard because I’ve been in the aquarium hobby since I was 16 years old and love doing daily aquarium work. The lid will help keep evaporated water from completely leaving, it’ll collect on the under-side of the lid and trickle back into the tank, plus these fish JUMP HIGH! A lid is a MUST.

That's how I got my fish he was in a party in a little bowl on the table now he has a 10 gal all to him self with a filter a heater water changes every weekend. He used to have fin rott but it's all gone and his fins are growing more.
2
Thxs for the video. I’m in agreement that bettas are one of the most mistreated animals in the home fish trade. Goldfish right behind them. But, luckily, my 4 male bettas are not. They each their nano aquarium, with filtration & heaters. As for tankmates, it depends on the bettas’ temperament. By the way, I also own goldfish from formers feeders to fancies. One of my former feeders is now over 5 yrs old. It’s a beauty.

I'm very glad you included the temperature involved with keeping betta fish, many people think they are cold water fish and can live without a heater

I can't wait to get a betta fish! I've spent over £50 on preparing their tank, and I'm doing extra research to make sure I know everything I can.
2
I already bought one without watching it, cause i do my research well

Ahhh!! Chihuahuas in a glass box- Perfect analogy, love it ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿ‘
2
Thank you for making this video so we can share with our friends and relatives who are clueless and don't do their research before getting a living creature to learn how to care for them. Edit: another important tip - aquarium must have a lid - they are jumpers.
2
One more comment I do have to say that in the Northern Virginia area every big box fish store I have been to have very knowledgeable and responsible employees who all advise people to try to get the biggest tank they can for their Betta fish. Nothing smaller than 2.5 gallons. I asked them why corporate even stocks those smaller tanks? They said they don’t know but I have definitely seen them refuse to sell a Betta fish to someone trying to purchase a .5 gallon tank so I think we are moving in the right direction. Videos like these are the key!
2
That's great to hear.

Love your honesty and passion for these beautiful creatures.

10 Things about aquarium filters and heaters.

Very informative. Betta are one of my favorite fish. I had a female sorority in a 45 gallon for 5 years. Loved it soooo much. I had cardinal tetras in with them. Sadly my last female betta pasted last year, she was almost 7 years old. The tank has evolved into an angel tank now, although my very old albino cory cats are still in there. My male betta was very happy in his 10 gallon with his black neon tetras. He passed at 5 years of age. Betta as with any fish, do your research before purchasing. This is a very good list to consider before purchasing. Well done.
1
You are correct! It's pronounced BET-TA, not BAY-TA. There are two t's in the word. There is a word BAY-TA, which is spelled B-E-T-A. If you look up this word in a dictionary, you will find that this word has NOTHING to with fish. BETA (BAY-TA) is defined as a measure of risk, which is used today to determine the RISK of investments, such as stock, bonds and mutual funds. I agree that many sales people also pronounce BETTA as BAY-TA which only confuses the issue.
1
Great info on bettas John and Lisa! I'm hoping to get one for a new aquarium of mine pretty soon! Also, I tend to pronounce it the same way as you guys haha ๐Ÿ˜‚

I have Hornwort in the tank now and Crusoe loves it, im getting him some Amazon Sword or Moneywort pretty soon here.
1
I had 3 bettas. The one in the 1 gallon unfiltered tank lived like 2 years and died actually of old age. All his coloration faded and he was lethargic. My other 2 lasted much less even though they lived in a 5 gallon and a 20 gallon, they died of swim bladder, which is always the reason my fish die. I like fish where 5 years is a minimum. Like kribs and cories.
1
I think I well cared my betta but it died 1,5yers I think it was old from the shop
1
It's really too bad that males can't cohabitate. Imagine a school of males, what a beautiful site that would be! People would buy them by the dozens.
1
Honestly I did a few months worth of research before getting a betta. It’d been years since I had a fish and i wanted to make sure I wasn’t doing anything wrong.I was planning on getting a 10 gallon that I could divide for both my male bettas. But I also was gonna get a 40 gallon which I ended up not having leftover money for the 10 gallon for the sale.So I ended up Not getting the 10 gallon. But I plan on getting it soon or at least this year so that my bettas can have more space.

Love this video series i was a big fan of your species spotlights on the frontosa and Venustus, the former i was inspired to keep after seeing your video, a suggestion for a video down the line Top 10 things to know about jaguar cichlids before you buy. I feel there a fish that alot of beginers to hobby see an go wow but often end up mistreated due to lack of knowledge on them.

I think you should do a 10 things on guppies or Mollys

I would love to feed my betta live food but I dont have time to put together myself and no one sells it around here. I feed him a variety of pellets, freeze dried brine shrimp, and freeze dried tube worms.

Can you guys do shubukin sunkin all tpy Goldfish ! Thank you
1
Bettas have stolen my heart. My first fish that started my hobby was a male dumbo. I loved that fish. Then I had a beautiful female Plakart. She grew to be a big gentle giant of a girl. She developed a huge tumor on her side. It got so large I had to peacefully put her to rest. I now have 2 females. I saved a female baby plakart and a juvenile plakart. I agree with you 10 things. These fish have great personalities and interact with you when you approach them. Thank you for being a spokesperson for these wonderful fish.
1
I have like 10 and I am usually the guy who nurses my friend's fishes back to health when sick.
1
Thank you I pronounce it the same way and just cannot stop. Like the video ๐Ÿ˜Š
1
Well said, Lisa...it's so good to hear a champion of Betta fish and the cruelty that is the fashion now.
1
As a fellow Betta keeper, I agree with your tips to keep them healthy and happy.

You should not support big chain fish stores by buying their bettas. It is better to buy a betta from a breeder you know is doing it right
1
Thanks for this segment as a Betta keeper I loved it and you did a great job. I was thrilled to see my footage and then got spanked๐Ÿ˜‚by Lisa for breeding them! I get your point absolutely! I am not very good at it so I got 2 fish out of that spawn and each one will have a 5 gallon tank of their own once they reach maturity. I am conflicted because I really don’t want to produce so many fish that finding them good homes is difficult but at the same time the excitement of choosing fish to breed and seeing the entire process is very rewarding. Don’t mean to give you grief at all just putting my two cents in. That’s what makes the world go around! One thing you didn’t really address are Betta sororities even though you had footage of one so maybe you can try a video on that topic in the future another controversial topic๐Ÿ˜‚That’s fish keeping for you.

Good vid ten things about the rope fish!

Very and I mean very good camera work. The quality of your camera must be awesome! I had to check under the stats to realize it's not even a 4K video just amazing! I've never seen a more detailed/clear image of a person on YouTube I don't think ever and I have thousands of hours of watching various YouTube channels and I'm not kidding! Even better quality than Corey as you know that's saying something! Thousands of hours of watching videos. Bravo! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘One of the biggest upsetting moments of mine in the past year is when you guys were in NJ. and I happen to be sick that weekend considering I do live in New Jersey. Well maybe next time anyway really good production value!๐Ÿค—๐Ÿค—๐Ÿ˜ Lisa is looking mighty good herself may I add!๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ˜ Glad you came back to the community! I am not going to get corny with you but you are a great inspiration for others!

Your videos are the best! I’m in love with you both!!! Keep em comin!!

Lmao your chihuahua point was hilarious

You know I didn’t think about breeding betas that way. But I should have. I haven’t bred them. I am s sucker for buying the betas when I can because they are in tiny containers. Between 5 active tanks I have at least a beta in each one except one.
1
I love your videos! So wish you still had your store....

Thanks for the info. ❤❤❤๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

I saw a nearly dead betta at petco that had a bladder issue and also fin rot.You can normally tell if they have a bladder issue if they're swimming on their side.I tried asking if I could take him home and the employee said "we treat all ofour animals in store".I would've bought him but I don't space for him.
1
You missed so many good things to discuss 1. Female betta fish can be kept in a community tank. I have 5 ladies that are in a 20 gallon tank with some guppies. All fins are perfect and the fish are bright and healthy. 2. There is no need for special "betta water" or that blue stuff they put in the cups 3. Bettas males cant handle strong currents because of their tails. This will lead to stress and fatigue causing their death 4. Add plants Especially anubis plants so the fish can rest on top of the leaves. 5. The most common ailments in betta are, finrots, dropsy and constipation 6. Betta fish are smart and will greet their owner 7. The minimum gallon of water for male betta is 10
1
I don't disagree that these are good points but its 10 things about betta not 17 things about betta ๐Ÿ˜Š so unfortunately we were limited with how many things to bring up. Thank you for adding to the list of things people should know. These are definitely important points as well ๐Ÿ˜Š

Better are jumpers. More so than most fish
1
It's been awhile since I tuned in. You've seriously stepped up your game sir. Well done!
1
So I wanna get a 10 g tank I currently have a betta fish in a 3.5 g tank but I wanna get a 10 g tank for my betta can I put other fish with it in a 10 g tank?

You probably can but it would be way better to keep your betta alone because it will probably claim the entire tank as its territory and might try to chase any other fish away or just be stressed out because it cannot get rid of the "intrudors". Stress is very dangerous for fish and may shorten their lifespans and make them more likely to get sick. A bettas behaviour can be unpredictable and depends on its personality so the safest option would be to keep it alone.

This is the perfect video for brand new fishkeepers, thank you so much! I'll be linking all my friends to this when they see my angry boy and want one of their own.

Lisa is so adorably ferocious. Love it!
1
I actually picked up a small koi female last night. Shes in a 20 gallon tall with my group of corys. She seems to be enjoying herself exploring the plants and watching the corys scoot around. I do however need to put a background on because she can see her reflection in the mirror behind the tank.
1
Great series and informative.
1
The minimum gallon requirement for a betta is 2.5 gallons so even if you get an aquarium most if not almost all that are targeted toward bettas are way to small for them

I have an idea for a future "10 things." 10 under-appreciated fish. I'll start; Gold Barbs. I find this fish a stunning addition to a community aquarium with their eye-catching color and energy. I think some people hear the word "barb", and they immediately think it's going to be aggressive. ( thanks Tiger Barb)

Beta = bay-ta. Betta = Bet -ta. It's not that difficult.
1
A good take mate would be a female betta I did that when I had a community tank he was happy showing off his lady to the other fish ๐Ÿค” they never tried to breed but was happy
1
Be "Betta" if the big box stores didn't sell them.

Oowh im gonna buy a fancy copper halfmoon betta...without even watching the video...why? Because i am a betta breeder and a seller..

What about Flowerhorns being mistreated???

BETTA FISH NEED TO BE KEPT IN AT LEAST 5 TO 10 GALLONS ANYTHING SMALLER IS PURE ANIMAL ABUSE

My betta didnt were frendly with guppies

Im housing 4 male bettas in a 20gallon divided tank.. thinking of upgrading my tank.๐Ÿค”๐Ÿค”

Aren't they Siamese fighting fish and not Japanese?

Can i put a Beta with my Gold and Black Skirt Tetras?

Great video, I have a 20g high with 6 female bettas, 5 mountain minnows, and 2 platies and they are doing great, my tank has been stocked like this since August 2018 and they all get along very well, for the ones wanting to know what kind of mates to get

10 things you should know about Flowerhorns

I wish he would have mentioned that betta should ideally be in a 5-10g tank... anything less than that is too small.

Your beard looks like an upside down mushroom ๐Ÿ„ it looks cool ๐Ÿ˜Ž๐Ÿ™‚

#1 A nano aquarium is no better than a vase 1gal is 1gal give your poor betta at least a 5 gal. #2 bettas are fine in anything from 65-75 deg water which is what most plants and fish your gonna keep in a fresh water aquarium.

I tried the betta biogold and one of my males ended up constipated all of my others are fine though, has anyone else had the same issue with this food?

It's simple. Here's an exercise. Dinner - diner Betta - beta ๐Ÿ˜ ✌️

Honestly I wanna breed bettas to sell to my future pet store.I also plan on keeping most of my bettas for breeding.I also plan on keeping the bettas in 10 gallons in the pet store.2.5 gallons per betta.

scenery improves drastically at 2:15! lol

My betta is being a meanie to his new snail friends.

10 things about dwarf cichlids

I had a Betta together with Firemouth, Severums and some catfish. He would do his rounds a couple of times per day then hang out in the plants. Seemed pretty happy and looked good. The other fish seemed to barely notice his presence.

Show Topic reasons why breeders of certain tropical fish use Bare Bottom Aquariums

I am planning on setting up a 10 gallon Betta tank son. Know I want live plants. Thinking I want to do female Bettas. How many do you think should go into one tank? I also plan on nirite(?) snail or 2 and probably about 6 small Cory catfish. Doing lots of research.

I've done alot of research on this and 10 gallon is too small for a 'sorority' tank. 20 gallon is smallest and 40 is better. Also, I have heard on good authority that they don't typically work. Better to have one betta and other community fish - but not in a 10 gallon.

Christine A Lucas Thank you for answering. I also did some more research and decided that a 10 wouldn’t really work. I am getting a 29, but only because that is the biggest that I can have in my place. I may still get a 10, but only for 1 Betta. Thank you again.

I have a female Betta and male I have enough hiding spots in there for them to get away from each other I have parrots and discus and they never bother with him he is funny when he sees her he shows his beauty

what the hell is a "bayduh" or whatever they are talking about? for gods sake please learn to speak, this got nothing to do with accents, this is just wrong... they fish are of the genus BETTA! pronounce it like "better" would be better, less false and closer to the real thing

I wish to make a tank with a pair of Opaline/Blue gouramis, a pair of bristle nose pleco, 2 pairs of corydoras, 3 pairs of neon tetras and 1 betta.

There are a few issues with that stocking list: 1. Bettas and gouramis are both territorial fish that mostly stay in the upper half of the tank so there will be possibly deadly conflicts between them. 2. Corydoras need to be kept in groups of at least five (the more, the better) 3. Neons need to be kept in groups too. If you want a fun aquarium with healthy fish, you need to do research on the fish you are planning to keep first. You can find all the information on the internet (just make sure to compare the information of varius sources to avoid errors.)
1
@Katja Frank Thanks for your opinion. I actually had 2 pairs of each type of gouramis I stated, they are my most favorite type of fish of them all. I would add angelfish too, but they become devil as they grow up. Gouramis are pretty amiable fish, if I am wrong, then my pairs were probably, they become territorial or hostile only when they wish to breed. If that ever happens, I will get them to a new aquarium. I prefer raising fish from babies, they are just too adorable. And I agree about Neon tetra schooling and corydoras, will probably double their numbers.

can anyone tell me what other fish i can put with betta for example angelfish(like 2 angelfish)

Do your research and do not put other fish with a betta in a 10 gallon tank. Should be at least 20 gallon.

Bettas should not be kept with other territorial fish like angelfish. Your angelfish might bully it to death. Corydoras, plecos and small loaches are often kept with bettas but these fish need enough space (if you want to add other fish, the best option would be to choose tankmates that require the same parameters as your betta and choose the tank size accordingly). The by far safest option would be to keep your betta with snails and shrimp (might get eaten) only as the behaviour of bettas can be unpredictable.

Top ten for red devil or Midas

Why do some people call it a betta fish, when others like myself call it a siamese fighting fish. You dift between doing this in the video.

Betta is a short form of their scientific name (betta splendens) and those names are often used in the hobby to avoid confusion. Some 'normal' names are not exact or are used for several different species and some species have more than one ore no 'normal' name. In addition, the scientific name is internationally known so nobody has to deal with wrong translations. This also counts for plants.

Such a big lie!!!! betta fish can be in a take together look up betta sorority tank on YouTube it's plenty of people did have kept them together successfully

I don't disagree that female betta can go in an aquarium together. I have a sorority tank myself. But you can't put more then 1 Male in an aquarium without having a bad outcome. That's my point to not breeding them unless you have enough tanks to house them all. Pretty sure your not gonna have a ratio of 99 Female and 1 Male when you breed these fish.

Oh my gosh, are betta really for sale in the us in those little cup things ๐Ÿ˜ฆ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ™ that’s not right you know ๐Ÿ˜•
