Ginger root is also a powerful antioxidant food

Ginger root, a popular seasoning in many cultures, is also a powerful antioxidant food.

The antioxidant value for ginger root provided here is the ORAC value — the “oxygen radical absorbancy capacity” — an indicator of the aility of ginger root to stave off cancer-forming cells.

The ORAC value for ginger root is based on 100 grams — a whopping two-thirds of a cup of ginger root. The ORAC value was compiled by the USDA from published studies on antioxidants in food.
